Mobilization Meeting on Application of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2020) Held

On January 10, Scientific Research Department organized a mobilization meeting for the application of NSFC in 2020. At the meeting, Pei Junling, researcher from Institute of Geomechanics, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, associate researcher Sun Zhiguo, vice dean of the School of Civil Engineering, and Meng Jian, chief of the scientific research office, were invited to give reports respectively. The meeting was presided over by professor Cai Xiaoguang, director of Scientific Research Department.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Guo Xun, vice president of IDP, encouraged and mobilized teachers to actively apply the n2020 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Researcher Pei Junling gave a three-hour report entitled Policy, Data Interpretation and Experience Exchange. Based on his own work experience, Pei made in-depth interpretations of NSFC policy, analyzed data, and introduced evaluation process and personal experience. After the report, our teachers had an extensive exchange with  Pei on project selection skills and funding directions.

In the afternoon, associate researcher Sun Zhiguo gave a report entitled Experience in Applying for NSFC in the Past Ten Years. Based on his experience in applying for NSFC in the past ten years, Sun shared his experience in applying for NSFC from seven aspects: understanding the fund's positioning, topic selection, research trends at home and abroad, research content and research objectives, research programs and technical routes. Finally, Meng Jian introduced the funding situation of NSFC in 2019 and the matters to be considered in the application and completion of NSFC in 2020. The whole mobilization meeting turned into in-depth discussions on national policy and personal application experience, a good inspiration for the more teachers to apply for NSFC this year.
