At 22:55 on June 17, 2019, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred in Changning County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. After the earthquake, Prof. Guo Xun of the School of Civil Engineering of IDP received the standing order from the China Seismological Bureau and was ready to go to the earthquake site at any time. After receiving the official notice, Prof. Guo Xun left his home at 4:00 a.m. on June 18 to Beijing airport and arrived in the earthquake stricken area on the afternoon of 18 June. As a member of the emergency working group of the Emergency Management Department to the site of the 6.0 earthquake in Changning, Sichuan Province, Prof. Guo Xun provided the site leading group with the pithy formula of intensity assessment, appraisal form of damaged buildings and local fortification zoning map.
