Emergency Team of IDP Going to Songyuan Earthquake Site

At 01:50 on May 28, 2018, an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in Ningjiang district, Songyuan City, Jilin Province (45.27 n, 124.71 E), with the focal depth of 13 km, and the China Seismological Bureau launched a level 3 emergency response.

On the morning of May 28, IDP held an emergency work meeting to arrange on-site work. According to the emergency work arrangement, two teachers, Wang Wei and Wang Lei, who were carrying out field work in Jilin Province, arrived at the scene at 2:30 p.m. on May 28. At 4:30 a.m. on May 29, Prof. Bo Jingshan led four teachers, Li Ping, Li Xiaobo, Zhang Yudong and Huang Xin, to the site of the Songyuan earthquake. The field team will carry out disaster investigation, intensity assessment and emergency appraisal of primary and secondary school buildings in the epicenter area.
