Professor Xu Tianfu from Jilin University Visiting IDP

On May 11, 2018, at the invitation of Professor Chi Baoming, Professor Xu Tianfu, distinguished professor of the national "Thousand Talents Program", President of School of Environment and Resources of Jilin University, and lifelong researcher of Berkeley National Laboratory, visited IDP. Qi Furong, Secretary of the Party Committee of IDP, and Yao Yunsheng, President of IDP, extended a warm welcome to Professor Xu Tianfu and had a discussion and exchange with him on the construction and development of the school.

Qi Furong and Yao Yunsheng hoped that the two sides would deepen the depth and scope of cooperation in teaching, scientific research and personnel training, and accelerate the development of disaster prevention and mitigation disciplines. Prof. Xu Tianfu spoke highly of IDP's important position and contribution in the development of national disaster prevention and mitigation, and proposed to seek opportunities for cooperation with IDP in the fields of training of earthquake science and technology personnel, and research and development of core technology of seismic underground fluid monitoring.

After the meeting, Prof. Xu Tianfu visited the earthquake simulation laboratory, disaster simulation laboratory, high temperature and high pressure laboratory and hydrochemical analysis laboratory, listened to the report on the current situation and development plan of hydrogeology discipline construction, the research direction and content of hydrogeology discipline, and had in-depth communication with teachers of underground water science and engineering on hydrogeological talent training and professional construction. Prof. Xu Tianfu fully affirmed the achievements made in the talent training and specialty construction of hydrogeology, put forward valuable advice and suggestions on the discipline construction and development, and initially reached an intention on the content and form of cooperation with IDP.
